Ernest Lee Trevino, 55, of Mercedes, Texas, passed away on 12 April 2025. He was the superintendent of the Texas-Oklahoma Latin District, leading the district since 2023.

Ernest Lee Trevino was born on 30 July 1970 in Streator, Illinois, but grew up in Mercedes, Texas. In 1988, he began attending Mercedes Church of the Nazarene, where his passion for ministry was nurtured. In 2014, he played a key role in founding Living Water Church of the Nazarene in Mercedes, which later moved to Progreso, Texas. He served as pastor of Living Water Church for over six years. 

In October 2023, he was appointed superintendent of the Texas-Oklahoma Latin District, where his role was to oversee the 28 churches.

Trevino earned a degree in kinesiology with a minor in history from the University of Pan American in 1997. He served the communities of Progreso, Lyford, and Mercedes as a history teacher, coach, and career and technical education (CTE) teacher of multiple courses for over 25 years. His commitment to faith and education led him to pursue a master’s degree in theology and religious studies from Trevecca Nazarene University, graduating in 2020.

With over three decades of dedication to ministry and community service, Trevino guided and supported numerous individuals and families in their spiritual journeys. He was passionate about fostering a strong, faith-based community and was actively involved in outreach programs, discipleship, and mentoring future church leaders.

Ernest has been married to Nelinda Trevino for 31 years, and together they have raised three adult children. In his free time, he enjoyed studying church history, engaging in outdoor activities, and spending quality time with his family.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Nelinda Trevino; his parents, Ernesto and Rebecca Trevino; sisters Nora Villanueva, Alma Yanez, and Melida Garcia; sons, Samuel and Thomas; his daughter, Hannah; and a grandson on the way.
