Flooding in St. Adolphe

Siloam Mission's MOST (Mission: Off the Street Team) rushed to St. Adolphe, Manitoba, on April 15 to help weary residents sandbag their homes after receiving a call for help from the area's fire department that morning.

Late the night before, Siloam Mission first learned of the need for help in the St. Adolphe area when a staff member, who was touching base with a donor from the Niverville area, was alerted that St. Adolphe was in desperate need of help. Immediately, staff contacted the St. Adophe fire department, leaving a message, and the MOST program director initiated a plan of action.

"The MOST trainees are happy to assist in any way they can," states MOST Director Dan Ingalls. "Giving back to the community is important to them, especially when a call for help such as this presents itself."

The MOST program participants gathered their gear and made the trip to St. Adolphe within the hour. They offered their services for the entire day.

MOST (Mission: Off the Street Team) is one of Siloam Mission's for-pay employment-training programs that operates as a partnership with the Downtown Biz, providing employment for inner-city homeless. Currently, the program employs 14 trainees and has seen 11 graduates of the program move on to full time employment with partnering businesses.

Siloam Mission is a ministry agency of the Canada West District.
