A workshop training Nazarene leaders and writers was held in Quito, Ecuador, last month. The workshop trained them on how to produce articles, news stories, social media posts, books, and discipleship material.

“The workshop provided me new tools that reinforced my development in order to contribute in God’s kingdom through my writings,” said Esdras Jimenez, the Holistic Ministries coordinator in Ecuador. “The Nazarene church in Ecuador has been benefited by it.”

The workshop took place 27-29 August on the campus of Nazarene Theological Seminary of South America in Quito. Twenty-five pastors and leaders of the Church of the Nazarene from all around the country actively participated in the workshop.

The event was highlighted by the participation of Frank Moore, general editor of the Church of the Nazarene, who has vast experience as a pastor and academic. He is also the author of numerous books, including The Power to be Free, Encounter, and Coffeeshop Theology.

This is the first such event held in Ecuador and the third in Latin America. The workshops will be held in every country in the South American Region with the purpose of encouraging, preparing, and continuing to develop writers in this part of the world.

Jimenez believes that the workshop helps attendees find a way to use their writing talent to fulfill a call to the church.

“More than a training, this was a time of calling for those in whom God has placed the vocation to write,” he said. “Surely, many of the participants will contribute to the different churches' publications.”
