Unprecedented opportunities to expand reach of Nazarene missions

Unprecedented opportunities to expand reach of Nazarene missions

by | 04 Oct 2012

To Nazarenes around the world:

Throughout our history of over 100 years, Nazarenes have been making Christlike disciples in the nations by means of sacrificial giving. These offerings have always been a response of gratitude to God for His faithfulness. In fact, long before it became the theme of this year’s offering, Generosity Unlimited, defined our giving.

The primary source of funding for God’s work in our world has been regular giving by His people. We are thankful for the ways in which Nazarenes support local, district, educational, and worldwide ministries.

Our people express their thanks annually through the church’s global Thanksgiving and Easter offerings for world evangelism, in addition to Faith Promise emphases at the local church level.

This year there are unprecedented opportunities to expand the reach of Nazarene missions. The Thanksgiving Offering will empower new initiatives for evangelism, church planting, and disciple making.

The biblical theme of Generosity Unlimited reminds us that “whoever sows generously will also reap generously” (2 Corinthians 9:6). Generosity is a biblical principle that reflects God’s love and mercy to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. It is also a characteristic of biblical stewardship that the more we sow, the greater the harvest. Finally, generosity is a choice we make when we have been blessed with the means to give back to God—even when that amount is less than what we would like.

Generosity Unlimited is more than just a theme for this special offering. The giving of Nazarenes around the world is:

  • An expression of worship.
  • An act of joyful obedience.
  • A statement of faith.
  • A testimony of thanks for God's love and care.
  • A commitment to partnership with God in His work on earth.
  • An overflow from hearts that have been transformed by His grace.

We are praying for a worldwide outpouring of Generosity Unlimited. The Apostle Paul wrote:

"God is able to make all grace abound to you so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work" (2 Corinthians 9:8).
