Trevecca student with autism graduates after 12 years

Nashville, Tennessee

(Tennessean, 10 May) Brian Schnelle has autism. At 31 years old, he still lives with his parents. He can't care for himself. He can't drive. But he loves to learn.

For the last 12 years, Schnelle has had one goal in mind — graduate from college.

Earlier this month, he finally got there. Schnelle earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management, graduating with honors.

And he couldn't have done it alone.

Several times a week since 2007, Schnelle's dad has driven him back and forth to Trevecca Nazarene University as Schnelle diligently pushed toward his goal.

It's a future they never would have envisioned for a boy who started life with such significant setbacks.
