Grandfather, grandson lead West Virginia congregation

Stonewood, West Virginia

(The Exponent Telegram, 21 April) A grandfather and grandson not only offer alternative preaching to more than 100 local residents weekly at Clarksburg First Church of the Nazarene, but they also inspire church members to participate in local missions.

Pastor Richard Settles has led the congregation at the church since March 2000 and grandson D.J. Hoff has been his associate pastor for nearly two years.

“I felt that we don’t get enough strong biblically-based preaching,” Hoff said. “We believe in the Doctrine of Holiness. We believe that the Bible is the final authority in everything that we do.”

Church members give food to needy residents and to Norwood Elementary students via the Backpack Ministry every month, and they give annually to other outreach initiatives.
