A report detailing compensation of Nazarene ministers in the U.S. has been prepared and is now available from Pensions and Benefits USA. It was developed with data provided by Nazarene Research Services and was drawn from information collected in the 2017 Annual Pastor’s Report as submitted to the General Secretary.

“Along with providing general education and transparency, our hope in distributing these results is that local churches will consider the compensation packages of other pastors in their regions when working to offer equitable benefits to members of their staff,” said Don Walter, Pensions and Benefits USA director.

Walter added that those consulting the report should keep in mind that salaries and benefits are affected by variations in the cost of living, as well as ranges in church size, budget, and personnel. 

"I know that I will be able to use this report extensively as I advocate for better pay and benefits for our beloved pastors," said David Downs, superintendent of the West Texas District. 

Along with the report, Pensions and Benefits has an online compensation calculator and a variety of compensation and tax memos that may be useful in developing salary and benefit packages.
